H.I Space at 8x8x8
In this occasion we are showcasing four artists who have previously exhibited with H.I Space. These artists represent the gallery's programming since our founding, working across ceramics, drawing, and mixed media to explore themes of migration, memory, place, and transformation.
Featured Artists
Helena Parriott
Born 1987 in Seattle, WA, Helena Parriott works with painting, glass, and performance. She lives and works between Goias, Brazil, and Seattle, Washington. Her works have shown nationally and internationally, including at VICTORI + MO, BRIC, BFP Creative, Centotto, and UrbanGlass in Brooklyn, NY, Macklind Appliance in St. Louis, MO, and Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum. She was guest artist at the Museum of Glass in Seattle, WA, Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, PA, Wheaton Arts in New Jersey, and Zelezny Brod School of Glass in the Czech Republic. In October, she participated in the 15th International Glass Symposium (IGS) residency and exhibition in Novy Bor, Czech Republic.
Martin Lammert
Born in 1990, Martin Lammert lives and works in St. Louis, using formal fabrication techniques on found and store-bought materials like steel, fiberglass, PVC, buckets, and towels. While this mixed bag of materials can appear crude, closer inspection reveals intricate and skilled hand-finishing. This contrasts with a bastardization of material that stems from a knowledge of its proper use.
His practice oscillates between communicating sincerity and evidence of flippancy. Drawing on themes from recreational activities, amusement parks, architecture, and art history, he merges conventional entertainment with intellectual pursuit. His sculptures can be seen as operative and situational, though they sometimes resemble a pile or the remnants of a hoarder, flourishing with interpretation.
As his sculptures develop, the composite structure addresses concepts of existentialism, play, meaning, and reality. The sculptures behave as form but also represent a built environment and the brain. Lammert sees his work as both a scale model and a neurological map. Martin received his BFA from the University of Southern California in 2013 and his MFA from Washington University in 2022.
Daniel Martín Rincón
Born in 1994 in Colombia, Daniel Martín Rincón is a multidisciplinary artist based in Bogotá whose practice explores the transient nature of objects and images as they manifest in the ordinary. His work delves into themes of impermanence, migration, balance, and adaptability, investigating the tension between public and private spaces. Through drawing, photography, performance, and sculpture as spontaneous acts, he constructs connections between unstable environments, dissolving the boundaries between documentation and fiction.
He holds a degree in Fine Arts from the National University of Colombia (Bogotá) and has over seven years of experience in artistic creation, research, and project execution. Since 2020, he has been part of the cultural corporation Marcapasos in Pereira, where he serves as a curator for artistic and educational programs. He has also directed workshops and curated projects such as the Festival de Dibujo en Gran Formato "Pintarla" (2023) and the Publico (Club de Collage de Pereira).
In 2024, he founded El Sindicato de Dibujo, a space dedicated to the conceptual and practical exploration of contemporary drawing. He is also the co-founder of La Celebración de la Nube (2022), a theater and live arts collective that integrates performance, visual arts, and dramaturgy. His work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Colombia and internationally, including at the Centro Colombo Americano (Pereira), Universidad de los Andes (Bogotá), Casa Tragaluz (Medellín), and the Festival Apoye, No Castigue (Mexico City). He is also the creator of Lidiosito, a graphic narrative project developed since 2020.
Eva Aguero
Born in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1991, Eva Aguero explores themes of domesticity and migration, using materials as symbols to engage with ideas of memory and territory. Her work blends everyday domestic actions and tropical symbols to reflect on how these elements shape our sense of identity and influence our understanding of reality.
She has exhibited widely internationally, including at the renowned Youth with FIA Salon (Ibero-American Art Fair), where she earned an honorary mention in 2019. Most recently, she won the 2025 Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award from the International Sculpture Center.
